SNAT National Executive Committee [NEC]


  • Shall take follow-up action on all matters being directed to it by the Biennial Conference or Special meetings and shall assist the National Treasurer in the preparation of the Annual Budget.
  • Shall give instructions to the Secretary General and other officers for conduct of the Association. It may appoint committees and clerical staff as it may consider necessary.
  • Shall carry into effect as far as possible the resolutions of the Association passed at General meetings and conferences; and management and control of the Association shall be vested in the National Executive Committee.
  • May suspend or dismiss any officer or any member of the Association for neglect of duty, dishonesty or refusal to carry out the decision of the Executive Committee. An officer or member against whom disciplinary action is initiated shall be afforded a fair hearing. However, the officer shall have a right to appeal to the Special General Meeting or Conference. In the interim period, the Executive Committee may appoint one of its members to fill the vacancy caused by such dismissal.
  • Shall have power to co-opt any member of the Association whose services may be deemed necessary and shall be mandated to establish or form any committee as and when the need arises.
  • Shall draw up programs for the Meeting of the Association.
  • Shall appoint union staff and where means permit, such appointment shall be on full time basis.
  • Shall appoint clerks such as other employees as may be necessary to undertake the business of the Association.
  • Shall fix the remuneration of each employee subject to any scale approved for the purpose by conference.
  • Shall Suspend or dismiss any employee. A suspended employee shall remain on suspension pending the decision of conference or an emergency meeting or General Council. The period of suspension shall not exceed three (3) months.
